CIS Community
As an organisation CIS recognise the significance of investing in our local communities and the local communities of our various client establishments. CIS are keen to encourage community cohesion.
CIS fully support The Lewisham Business Awards annually, a local business award aimed at recognizing the contribution local Lewisham businesses make to the community, and not just financial success. It is important to us that small businesses in the area are recognized and nurtured as they grow.
CIS achieved the Lewisham Growth Business Award in 2005 and are honoured to have sponsored the same category in 2010.

Developing the potential of young people
CIS are keen to develop the potential of young people. Currently CIS run a number of initiatives to encourage 'learning and earning' both in our local community and in the communities of our client partners. Apprenticeships.
Our Trainee Accounts Administrator is currently pursuing a Government Funding AAT Apprenticeship Scheme. This involves her attending college 1 day per week (day release). The first stage is foundation - 6 months, second stage intermediate (1 year) and final stage is technician which is 1 year.
CIS are also involved in a scheme in Tower Hamlets in partnership with a local client, and Careers London, a Government funded organisation whose role is to encourage young people back to work through mentoring facilitated by local employers.
The scheme provides opportunities for people who have obtained their SIA licence via local Colleges but have no experience within the industry. The learner has to commit to 96 hours voluntary work and in return they are provided with a 'hands on' work placement. The learners work days and nights on a rolling roster shadowing a CIS Supervisor. At the end of the 96 hours an appraisal is held with our client, our Contracts Manager, the learner and a representative from Careers London. The appraisal provides structured feedback to the individual and allows them the opportunity to feedback on their experience and how they feel they would fit into a security position.
This scheme is in its early stages but already CIS have successfully offered 80% of the learners full-time positions within the Company.
Work Placements
Sixth Form Students at Christ the King College based in Lewisham attend work experience at CIS working throughout the summer in various departments within Head Office. The students also attend site visits and client meetings to give them overall experience of a busy working environment and all of the factors that make the business a success.
CIS also facilitate work experience for two week periods for students in year 10 of various schools.
